Report on a career in art that you may be interested in. Include training or education you may need, average income, types or variations on the job, start up expenses, and portfolio you would need. Explain how this career is well suited to your personality: The career in art I’d love to pursue is in Japanese animation. I feel this career would be most enjoyable if I were to pursue art as a career in any way. I To me anime and animation is part of my everyday life, I enjoy watching, reading, and drawing it. So to me it seemed most likely to pursue. Japanese animation is easily characterized by abnormally large eyes and outlandish hairstyles of characters. Anime, like manga, just recently in the 21st century become increasingly popular worldwide. There are many careers to be had in anime; maybe the most important is that of the animator.
For training to help me make my way toward this goal daily practice is necessary. Inspiration to draw is everywhere, so I’d need to take a sketchbook with me where ever I go. Education to help me would most likely be best if I went to an art school. (Duh.) On top of that maybe a few classes for drawing and computer design.
Enroll in an animation degree program at a respected school such as the Art Institutes International. Although it is possible to land a great animation job with no formal training, it is rare. Programs to consider are animation and design, fine arts, graphic design and other related areas of study. Many schools also offer specialized classes in manga and anime as electives and workshops. Not only will you learn the skills necessary for a career in animation, you will be given the opportunity to network with professionals in the field.
The median expected salary for a typical Animator in the United States is $46,665.00. Below I’ve provided a link to a website I’ve got my income information from, in the link it shows you the lowest average income to the highest average income. http://www1.salary.com/Cartoonist-Animator-salary.html
The portfolio I’d need should be full of drawings and demo reel of animations. Using original work, and even though I want to focus mainly on anime I should still include samples of other work and variations. A good animator should be skilled in many styles of animation, not just his or her specialty. Clips on the demo reel should not be more than five minutes each, and showcase a variety of skills. It also a good idea to put copies of your work on slides.
The start up expenses for this career would involve around a good couple thousand to pay for college classes, art work supplies and if I decided to invest in a computer software to help me make my animation more 3D I’d need a few more hundred to a thousand. In the end if I successfully get a decent job paying off whatever loans I owe and making up for the spent money should soon enough be paid off.
